Out front it sounds awesome -- punchy as hell. But now I can't really hear the bass in the mix when the music gets loud. I need a monitor of some kind.

20x18 (diameter x depth)

it sounds HUGE for a 20", but not too big for the 10, 12, 14 toms I got with it. The 14 sometimes sounds more like a 16 to me. These are BIG sounding drums to my ears, especially with the Emperors I have on them now.

BEAUTIFUL............. 4 piece, even better !
same problem here until i got a monitor, buy one pal, i found i struggled without one . what with straining to hear lead and vocal as well as trying to concentrate on playing .

emphasize again, thats a beautiful kit !

Oh yeah m8, I'm really starting to struggle with the bass drum at the mo' -- I have to watch it like a hawk when it comes to fast doubles and anything other than a big thudding single played at slow tempos, to make sure I'm playing what I think I am.

My band are noisy inconsiderate barsts, it must be said :)

Any reccommendations for a good monitor that won't break the bank?

go 2nd hand ..

i picked up a 65w Laney powered monitor for 99. it has a link to another powered as well as a line out for an unpowered one. so i could link 2 more from this one with no problem ! it works perfectly sitting next to me on a stool . NO MORE struggling to hear my guitarist and vocalist :D
