Default Sabian 15" crash question

I'm needing a Sabian 15" crash in a med thin weight but wasn't sure to go for an aaxplosion crash or a AA med thin crash. i like for it to sound similar to my 15" studio crash if possible for that pitch since i'm going to put the cymbal behind my AA 17" med thin. Would the xplosion sound deeper than the AA crash since it's a bit flatter in it's profile or not?

Then it just may be perfect for you! I find that it sounds better in a Metal or Rock setting, but if you want a more "all-around" chinese I defanatly recommend the Paragon 19" Chinese. It sounds like an amazing combination of the Zildjian Oriental China "Trash" and a Wuhan. It's not everyone's cup of tea, considering how trashy it is, but I feel it would work in a wider variety of musical genres than the Xtreme would. Of course, everyone from Jojo Mayer to George Kollias uses the Xtreme... Decisions, decisions, decisions !

New cymbal time...

Looking for a fairly all round type deal, standard rock to like function playing.

Anyways, thinking the Groove hats and rides, 18 and 19 HHXplosions and an 18 HHX chinese. Wadd'ya think?

Those are great choices. As previously stated, the combination of HHX 14" Groove Hats, any two Xplosion Crashes (AAX or HHX, 18" or 19") and a HH 21" Raw-Bell Dry Ride is one of the most versatile set-ups around. It doesn't get much more "all around" than those! The HHX 18" Chinese is awesome too and fits just as many styles of music as the rest of your cymbals! Good luck1

That's basically exactly what I've ordered. I went with a 21" HH Raw Bell Dry ride instead of the HHX Groove, and no Chinese.

Hey guys, I have a question. I want 4 crashes on my kit, and I'm having a hard time knowing which ones I want! I'd like to have a 17", 2 18"s and a 19". Heres what I have been considering.

Set Up #1:
HHX 17" Stage Crash
AAX 18" Xplosion Crash
HHX 18" Evolution O-Zone Crash
AA 19" Rock Crash

Set Up #2:
AAX 17" Dark Crash
AAX 18" Xplosion Crash
HHX 18" Power Crash
AA 19" Rock Crash

Set Up #3:
AAX 17" Dark Crash
AAX 18" Xplosion Crash
HHX 18" Evolution O-Zone Crash
AA 19" Rock Crash

I defanatly want to keep the AAX 18" Xplosion Crash and the AA 19" Rock Crash in there no matter what, but I'm having a problem... I want to add more HHX and AAX to my kit (I'm planning on using set up #2, in which case I would only have 3 AAX cymbals and 1 HHX!)! It's tough choosing crashes when you have all these options!

Good choices but the AAXplosions will over power the HHX Evo's. I have played my 18" Evo next to my 18" Xplosion and the AAX is noticeably louder.

Whenever I buy cymbals I try to keep the ones I'm going to use together all within the same series, or at least close to it.

For example, I will mix HH's with HHX's or AA's with AAX's. It's not really about series as it is about tonality.

Just my $.02

Thanks man! I'm actually not a big fan of having all my cymbals in the same line. I love mixing AAX with HHX and Paragon, etc! I also like mixing darker with bright (i.e AAX Xplosion with HHX Evolutions) just for variety! Thanks though!

Total bumpage!

I can't wait to attend the Vault Tour on October 12th at Indoor Storm! Anyone else going? I'm fixing to try the O-Zone China and 24" Ride!
