!Those hats are cool because they have this unique sound... I have never heard a pair of hats sound like the AAX or HHX Stage Hats before! I know Portnoy uses them, but George Kollias from Nile also uses them and in his videos, I always love the sound of his hi-hats! Again, nice buy. You have good taste in Sabians! |

Not interested in buying this but saw it on craigslist...so i give you the Sabian John Blackwell Jr Signature China. I have no idea what this thing is , besides the fact that it is a china. Just how rare is it really?

Since John left Sabian Last year no more have been made, so eventually you won't find them around without looking hard.
I can't imagine it being a very popular cymbal amongst the public, Obviously JB has some commercial appeal - enough for Sabian to make those cymbals, but that china seems limited in its application. Sabian makes on average 800,000 cymbals per year, and with about 1000 catalog items and 3500 special request items it works down to potentially 1000's of the most popular cymbals ie; RBDR's, Xplosion's and Evo's, to very few of less popular models and customs. Now im purly speculating here but i'd say they have a standard quota for the popular models and add a few of 'x' type cymbals to keep stock where needed. Id say that the JB was 'x'.

It's time to pick a finish for my crashes. I'm definately going with natural hats and ride, but I don't know whether to get natural crashes and keep everything matching, or mix things up and get brilliant.
Any suggestions? |

They're supposed to have quite a hot, raw sound. To be honest, I can get that sound with a model like a HHX anyway, so I probably wouldn't buy a signature.
