Default Yamaha Beech Custom Absolute - after a new year's tragedy

Hey Folks,

this is a very sad story.
On january 2nd an electric fire happened in the building where I rent my rehearsal room (and many musicians/bands rent theirs), and where I was storing my drums. The heroic firemen couldn't stop the fire quickly enough, so all my drumkits were gone in the fire.
My two Recording Custom kits, a Maple Custom, and a Birch Custom Absolute kit, a BLX kit, and even my long-time rehearsal kit, which was a Tama Rockstar Pro set, burned in flames. And you don't want to see cymbals after 1200 celsius of heat... Yes, I have insurance, but I can't buy the memories of a lifetime for money.
My daughter immediately said, that I can take her MLX kit, which I gave her two years ago - I said no, of course.
The "survivors" are a set of Yamaha stands, a set of Paiste Alpha's, two kick pedals, some drumheads, and my Tama Artwood Birch snare, a Yamaha Steel snare + my custom aluminium snare - these things were in my garage. I never play (and store) drums at home, but now I have to think about it.
But today morning, I had a call from a drum rental/cartage company, which is in my hometown, and the owner said: "We heard what happened, come in, probably we got a drumkit for you..." I have a very good relationship with this company, I was helping them out many-many times with my own drums in the last 10 years, when they were in need of a drumkit (sometimes 2-3 kits) I owned.
So, I went to their office, and they showed me a Yamaha Beech Custom Absolute kit, which they bought in 2001, but it was used 1-2 times/year only. The kit was in perfect condition, the See-Through Violet colour is stunning, and they said a price $500 for the 22x16, 10x9, 12x10, 14x12 shells, + the tom holders. I think, this is an offer, that nobody could resist. And that's what I call friendship. I picked up the kit, and took her home...

So, here are the first pics, about the beginning of my new life.

First of all Indi veteran, I'm very sorry to hear your story. I'm sure you'll get back on your feet due to insurance but I understand the attachment to the old kits. I wish you the best!!!

Two, that Beech Custom is unreal. What a kit--good things come to good people and sounds like they got you back for being so good to them. Amazing kit, I have never seen one in violet.

Good Luck getting back on your feet.

Justin

That is gorgeous. You got an amazing deal on that kit, but I am SO sorry about what happened to everything else. That's so not cool. Doesn't seem like you deserved that at all. Luckily you have insurance. Again...sorry. Have some rep.

I'm also sorry for your loss, but it's wonderful to hear about some really kind people in your life helping you out! Another member had most of his kit stolen not too long ago, and people in his family and community gave him a hand and now he can replace most of his lost gear.

I have never seen a Beech Custom in that finish! That is absolutely stunning! I'm so happy for you that you got that kit for next to nothing, you certainly deserve it! And you're blessed to have a very selfless daughter too! I hope everything goes smoothly with the insurance and that you can get back to drumming asap!

I'm really sorry man, it's sucks to lose things that mean alot to you, but it's great that you got that amazing new kit.
