Default Mics

Hey, so today I went to my music store, had a very long talk him the recording guy, anywayz, I was looking at the mic on musicians friend, and I wanna know whats the best mics for about 300-350 bucks?

I found these two:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ack?sku=270691

^^^ that one seems better quality, but you tell me compared to this one:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ack?sku=270665

Would you say these are the best ones to get for about that range, or what other mics are good?

Another thing about musicians friend, im in Canada, if something is 20 dollars american how much will it cost me in Canadian?

Right now the Canadian dollar is worth about the same as an American dollar.
BTW were are you from in Canada?

The best would be do get this:
Shure Beta 52a - $120-$140 on eBay
pair of MXL 603s - $110-$120 on eBay
Shure SM57 or Audix i5 - $60-$80 on eBay

That's definitely what you should get. A good kick mic, a good snare mic, and two good overheads. WAY better than those decent/crummy mic packs.

Okay thanx, near Toronto.

SMX- I really do not like ebay, I don't buy used stuff, just my thing. So would you say that those packs are worth it?

Maybe during your next "long talk" with Him...you'll ask what he thinks about Shure and Audix.

number one thing is, make sure you not getting a knock off sm 57. alot of people try to get away with crappy remakes and sell them for alot. If its selling for too cheap. dont get it.

Ok, don't wanna buy used? Fine. You can get an Audix D6 for $175 and an SM57 for $80 on Amazon, and a pair of Apex 435's (cheap, but get good reviews all around) for $120 at Music Go Round. Save up an extra $25 and get those...you won't regret it.

OK thanx guys, Im not going to cheap out on mics, I know I have to get good ones. I just don't have the money for 300 dollars per mic, I would rather get a pack, can someone recomend one to me?

The only pack I can recommend is the Shure pack that comes with a Beta 52 and 3 SM57's, which is around $400. If you're not going to cheap out on mics, and you know you know to get good ones, why don't you get the ones I suggested, only for $25 more than you said you could spend? I'm not telling you to get $300-each mics, I'm actually recommending the best mics for what you have to spend. I'm really unsure why you still want a pack and won't go with the 4 I suggested.

^^ Im going to look into that for sure, Its just that, I don't really like to buy much over the internet, espeically 4 different mics from 4 different websites Ive never bought from... im going to call me drum store and ask tommrow if they have those mics in, but I was wondering about a pack because it would be easier to buy one pack from one place. But again im going to call tommrow about those individual mics

If they don't match prices, you're buying from the wrong store.

What type of recording are you planning on doing? Simple demos, CDs for sales at gigs, or FM radio mega-dollar studio quality?
