I'm not sure, I was looking at some Yamaha snares and Oak and Birch Customs really caught my eye pricewise. I also considered the Akira snare, but it's just too expensive and looks kind of goofy IMO. The Mapex Premium Walnut 13 x 6 snare really caught my eye though, so I'm leaning toward that. I also think I'll slap some wood hoops on it too.

Woo! Just won a 14x8 Brass Yammie on eBay for $150!!! So psyched. It's missing 2 long lugs, but I'm thinking of slapping single point lugs on there because it seems long lugs for a 90's Yamaha 8" deep snare would be somewhat difficult.

::EDIT::

Lucky day! Just found an eBay store selling Yammie long lugs for 8" deep snares! The store is located about an hour from my house so it should be here within a week or so! I'll post some pics when I get the shell, and then some after pics when I clean up the shell and get the remaining two lugs!

Also, I know this is a Yammie thread, but I also picked up the legendary Ludwig Acrolite. Finally glad to have one of the absolute must have snare drums! I'm happy!

Congrats Stevie D, looks like you hit gold!

I also want to pick up a used Acro one of these days. Great snares.

My hidden treasure Part III.
Anarchy in full dress. Same band, same songs, but now I have some more sounds. Note: Clear Ambs on 8" & 10" toms, Clear Emps on 12" & 14" toms.

Default eBay pics of my 14x8 Brass Yammie!

Should I polish the inside of the shell? I'd use Nev-r-dull which is great with brass, but I don't know if it will kill the sound.

I'm also thinking a coated Amb over Hazy Amb with Puresound 30's on there. What do ya think?
