Default The sticker!!

Do you remove the sticker on new cymbals when you buy them?

You know those sticky, devilish barcodes that sometimes do not come off no matter what you do? I bet you can tell my answer... Yep, I remove them. When I bought my 8" a custom splash, I wondered why it sounded so choked and found out it was the sticker on the bell. Once removed, that thing sung like it should. I hate those stickers! Why are they so hard to get off!

The sticker stays until I'm absolutely certain the cymbal is a keeper. That varies anywhere from 10 minutes to a year.

My paragons have them on the inside of the bells, so no problem for me.

Absolutely, and they're a constant vexation. Turps gets the adhesive off, though.

the cymbals that ive bought that had stickers on them all had them on the bells which have all been unlathed. the stickers came off like wet bandaids. piece of cake, and oh yeah of course i take them off.

How do you get remaining goo off cymbals that are lathed? All mine are in the bell's as well, but do not come off! All this residue all over.

Common isopropyl or 'rubbing' alcohol is best. Acetone works really well too, but will also eat through the protective coating of non-Paiste cymbals. Alcohol and a little rubbing with your bare finger usually does the trick.
