There's tons of different ways to play it, but I'll let someone more experienced with it explain.

you want to look at
www.extremedrumming.net -or if that doesn't work- www.abythos.com/forum www.tonylaureano.com - then go to forum www.derekroddy.com - then go to forum there is one for Tim Yeung as well if you look for it, and of course www.georgekollias.com good luck - it is not always smooth running with the 'extreme drummers'. and i mean it when i say 'I would know'.

You do this and match each stroke with a beat on your kick, play the offbeat on yourhats.
That's a basic blast. As was stated, there are tons of different blasts. The name changes depending on how the snare, kick and cymbals line up.

It's all in the wrists... keep the arm movements to a minimum. When i practice i usualy play blasts on the ride, seem easier that way. With the right hand, right foot together. most important thing is to stay relaxed and dont go for too much speed right away. get the basic pattern down good first.

i play blasts open-handed as my right hand is stronger/faster than my left so i use it on the snare as it less noticable when my left hand lags behind.

You can most likely need a double pedal for the blast beat.
What you do is do a simple double bass LRLRLRLRLR, not too fast. Now match what ever hand you use to hit your cymbal with your feet going together. Now, alternate with your other hand to hit the snare. You can start off slow and build up your speed. This sort of blast beat is very clean if mastered. I can’t stand blasts where the feet are going faster or slower than the snare. It sounds sloppy. Some good clean blasts are Malevolent Creation Black Dahlia Murder Any album Derek Roddy plays on Hate Plow Rotten Sound (I RECOMMEND HIGHLY)
