I currently have this pedal...
![]() I've been thinking about getting this... ![]() Would this be a noticeable upgrade or what? With the Yamaha pedal I have now (posted above), I don't feel consistency. It feels sometimes bouncy. Like I'll play right but the pedal won't even hit the head when I play a fast beat that has any doubles in it. I have to use a tiny bit of extra force with my foot at times. It's really not that big of a deal, but when you're doing gigs and stuff it would be noticeable in the beat because sometimes the audience hear a double and sometimes it sounds low because the beater hardly made contact or didn't make contact at all with the drum head. Hope this makes sense to you guys as I'm sure other people have had this problem. I do alot of double bass. I don't feel a double bass pedal is neccessary however. I think I should be able to do it with one foot instead of taking the other foot off the hi-hat. I would probably go and try it out myself at the music store but it's freakin 2 hours away! Btw... what exactly is a cam and stuff that you can change with the Eliminator. I searched the forum but the search deal gives an error each time. Also, does that board under the pedal make a huge difference in anything? The Yamaha doesn't have the little board underneith it. I assume no, at least if you're playing on a solid surface. |

Define your double bass playing.
From the sounds of it, get rid of the Yamaha, get the Eliminator and slap on the red cam, sounds like what you need.

the eliminator will be noticably better yes. Cheap pedals tend to have that "bouncy" or "sloppy" feel. With high end pedals like the Eliminator it feels alot more sturdy and rigid, like the pedal is truly following a track when you press down.
The cam is the part that the chain(or belt) is placed on. In the picture at the bottom it is the red piece. The Eliminator pedal comes stock with four different designed cams, and when you change them, you drastically change the feel of the pedal. They all have different features, faster, more power and so on, you'll have to try which one feels the best to you The bottom plate will add stability to the pedal, that your old pedal doesn't have I suggest that you spend the money on the eliminator, especially if you're gigging, it will help alot.

If you don't think the Yamaha is cutting it, or you feel it is restricting you, then kick it to the curb! The Eliminator is a very fine pedal, with a lovely light feel and is very adjustable to individual needs/requirements.
But don't just go and get one and fit the red cam - as that might be no good for you at all. I suggest you get to a decent drum store and try as many as poss, with these being the hot faves; Pearl P-2000 "Eliminator" ![]() Pearl P-1000 "Pro Stock" ![]() Tama HP-900P "Iron Cobra" ![]() Yamaha FP-9410 "Flying Dragon" (Direct Drive) ![]() DW9000 ![]() Try em all for a couple of hours like I did, then have a sit down and weigh up the pro's and cons of each, think about the features : what you'll use, what you won't... But most importantly, you need to play em to see what the feel it like! If I had taken advice from here I would have bought a pair of Elims, but after trying all the pedals thouroughly, I ended up with a pair of P-1000's as I just think they suited me better, and I save £25 a pedal (so £50) by getting them and not the Elims...

Guess who?

Also, make sure you read SLIPKNOT1's pedal reviews in the hardware section. It's probably stickied, so you'll have no prob finding it. Or do a search.
BTW I have the Elim. I strongly encourage it.
