Default New score - King of versatility (Ludwig Acrolite)

Hi guys, wanted to share with you my new score! All the PDFers were giving such good reviews on it and this had to be my next ludwig snare. I'm still got a mind to get a BB and maple snare in the future.

Can you tell me the year it was made in, I can tell is the 1970s.

congrats. looks like a nice one. no idea what year, though, but i'm sure early 70s would be right.

i notice no snares on it. what are you going to put on? those original heads might actually sound pretty decent.

i just scored one almost identical to yours on ebay for 125 plus shipping. i am ecstatic with it so far.

The rounded edge badge was used from 1979.

I got it for 125 with free shipping within US. I expected the snare to be in the earlier 1970s but I've yet to hear the full extent of its sound without the snares. It came with a broken snare wire but everything else was good. The stand was pretty shiny and came in a proper working ludwig case.

I'm thinking of getting snare wires. But do the Puresound Blasters justify the cost? They got about US45 here.

this is a little vague on when the rounded corner badges started:
http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/ludwig_badges.html

i have heard many say that acros sound best with basic, cheap 20 strand snare wires like tama

i have some 42 strand generics on mine, but im going back to plain 20 strand cheapos

Yeah get some regular snappy wires. That's what I use on my 1970 Acrolite and it sounds terrific!

PM member Erwinner, he'll tell you when it was made.
Sick snare by the way, I'd love to pick one up.

I reckon that acrolite is from the 80s. early to mid eighties.
