If you wanna work with Pro Tools, your gonna have to get a Digi 003 or a box by M-Audio like this (http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/ProFire2626.html) as Pro Tools needs specific hardware to run. You will not find 1 box that will do 15 mics at once (Tascam do a 16 channel USB box but I doubt they will all come out on separate channels), your gonna have to look at getting two units or a rack of pres (like the focusrite octopre) that has a digital out along with the audio interface. If you wanna save a bit of cash, and your running PC, the presonus firepod or FP10 as they call it, could be right up your street (comes with Cubase I think?). Two of them daisy chained possibly? Also remember about cables and stands cutting into your budget. Whirlwind cables are great, I use them in the studio and in our live rig, think mine are Whirlwind leaders and our multicore a medusa. Hope that helps.

don't even bother close micing a beast like that...
Kick mic, snare mic and overheads can record a full kit fine. with a budget of 1000 you won't even have enough for 4 mics and an interface with stands+cables, let alone 15 mics and 2 interfaces... |

yea that helps haha
that fp10 gonna set me back like 3-400$ ill have to mix some drums together (like a 50$ mixer to mix 2 mics into 1 channel) keep it under 10 tracks then i can use the firepod 10 anyone got any experience recording drums with multiple mics on 2 channels?

The cost of mics is gonna be like.. 150 for fusion 4 300 for the fusion 7, 100 for the sm57, 160 for the d6 ill just get 2 high quality cables for the 2m57 and d6 since the fusion mics are bundled with the whirlwind cables gonna be about 730$ for mics and cables stands or clips gonna be another 150$ the firepod 10 maybe like under 400$ hopefully 200$ for some mini mixers to keep the track count under 10 patch cables shouldn't be expensive lookin at 1900$ >_<

Yeah, don't individually mic that drum kit. Get 3 nice LDC mics, a kick and a snare mic. Make sure the room sounds good and you will get a far better sound than cheaping out on mics.
Increase your budget. Big kits need either expensive mics, or more of them. You can't get individual mics for that price, and certainly cannot afford an interface and good mics to record it. Save your money, buy better quality equipment.

Keep in mind that 2 of the Firepods inputs are digital ins, I.E, you can't just run a mixer into them and use them! Just thought I'd let you know!
And also, is there any reason you've completly disregarded ANYONE who's said USE LESS BUT HIGHER QUALITY MICS!!! In most situations where a limited budget in the top concern, this one included, your much better off buying less high quality gear than lots of rubbish gear! |

well see steve just gave em a good idea
i had no idea you could daisy chain fp10's the mixers + a single fp10 whould of probably cost me the same as two fp 10's and the reason why im stubborn about the mic's is because this just a small personal project i dont wana shell out thousands on mic's just because and ive heard those audix fusion mics are great for the price just add sm57 on snare and a d6 on bass if they are so horrible i can always sell them on ebay and buy some better ones right now im more focused on the cost of multitracking
