I'm pumped and I've also clarified some coding points for the 3rd final I messed up. 9 days till I can take it again. They have to complicate the flip out of everything!!

After a nice little session I've decided to keep two thirds of the rack up and go back to the 7 piece. One tom and a bass drum plus the EXR snare are all that need to be cased and go up to the attic. The little 10" x 8" is so versatile that I have to keep it. The rack is nice this way and I'm so glad I just got to play with the sound allready dialed in.

I got this "hybrid" ELX/EX 4 pc as my bagged up and ready to rock "gig rig".
Cool?? right. Then..one day as I'm browsing my local MGR I see this lonely and unloved older Pearl maple shell pack. I have a real soft spot for older Pearl drum kits and couldn't resist taking a look.

Well, to make a longer story short, I am now on a mission. My practicality flew south for the winter ..geez! I have done some research right here on the PDF and have found out that the object of my affection is a 1983 MX. 8ply all maple shell. The drum sizes are a tad out of the norm for me with a 14x24" virgin bass drum, 10x14" rack tom (yes..14"), 12x15" mounted floor and a 16x16 floor tom w/legs. I talked this over with the wife (read;BOSS) and she agreed that it'd be okay to go for, but I needed to trade or sell off one of my current kits.
Since parting with the VSX is waaay outta the question..It looks like I will be waving bye-bye to my ELX/EX. I have always wanted a nice vintage Pearl Maple shell drum set. Looks like it's gonna happen.

I am planning to do a complete refurb job, including re-wrapping the shells cleaning and polishing the shell HW, re-heading them and playing the lugs off of them!
Verry exciting!

I saw this kit yesterday and it looks like really fine large drums in need of love and refurbrishment. It didn't scream "James" as the toms are so big; but would make a harder to carry cool gig kit! And it's a masters!! What color wrap are they getting?
