    Default CAPELLE Turbo drums

CAPELLE, the french manufacturer, built those kind of drum kits in the 80's. I use to own one. Great drums but hard to tune and to carry in a single car (imagine a double bass set ! 2 x 32" long !) I use to own one of those monster !

The Turbo 20" x 32" bass drum sounds sick!!!!!

I would love to see these older ideas put into modern kits as in craftmanship, quality, etc.....It would be crazy, total bottom end sound.

    Thumbs down

I always liked your Capelle kit earthshaker. The interior wood shells look dark on the Capelle's. What wood type is it?

KISS uses Gibson guitars and PEARL drums because they want the Best!

The CAPELLE turbo drum kits were made of mahogany.

Default I still have my Capelle Turbo!

I still have my Capelle Turbo Kit, purchased new from Sheffield UK in the 80's when I was 16.
I played it for many years until about 10 years ago when i got a new Pearl ELX in Green.

I am due to get the old monster out for a clean and re chrome.

    Anyone else got one still?

It's pretty awesome that you apparently joined because you saw this thread.

Ive never even heard of them, but then again, I am relatively young, and you guys are both in Europe.

In any case, those are pretty cool drums. Beyond power sizing...

First I wish a warm welcome.

I like the fact that you used the search button and revived that 4 years old thread.

I never saw a capelle in person but I know the name was a well reputed one in Europe back in the old days. I do remember that capelle hi-hat (or chaleston) was really well praised because of its smoothness action.

I would love to see pics of these drums today, and some sounds wouldn't be bad either...

    Hi guys,

I dont have an actual full size "Turbo" but a Capelle Double Bass with 24" x 24" Bassdrums and quadratic shells (e.g. a 16"x16" Tom Tom)

You can see it in the Video Clip by Dew Scented "Thats why I despise you" on youtube.

I am seeling the Kit on ebay this week. So if anyone is interested...search for Capelle on ebay.

    More Pics to come.

    bye

    Here are two more Pics

I like the one with the three Bassdrums most. It shows my old 22"x18" Mapex bassdrum between the 24" x24" monsters

    best
