Why do..

when people say 'xxx drummer is s#@t', people come back saying 'yeah, but if a better drummer came a long it wouldn't sound as good'. Well surely a better drummer would know just what to play, so if it didn't sound as good then they wouldn't nessacerily be a better drummer. If you get what i mean, i've sort of confused my self lol.

user b: "yeah but a better drummer would make it sound bad - imagine mike portnoy/neil peart/whoever playing on it"

but surely if they were a better drummer they'd know not to solo over the whole song and understand that more is sometimes less, hence they wouldn't nessacerily be a better drummer.

are you trying so say that u dont appreciate drummers who cant acknowledge the fact that you should do whats best for the song, so be it if you have to play a real simple 4/4 beat (kick snare kick snare etc etc), rather than play paradiddles and playing odd time signatures and tom solo's when clearly the song is meant for the guitar or bass, or keyboard or whatever the instrument is, for this instrument to be the main attraction and the drums to only be a backbone to the song.
that a good drummer does whats right for the song, and not breaks into something that steals the spotlight from the main attraction
or am i completly wrong again ?

if they are a better drummer, i think it's safe to assume that they would make the song better. i highly doubt someone like mike portnoy is incapable of making a song sound better than someone like meg white, whethere it be the simplest or most complex song

but yeah i think i'm gonna have to go with everyone else and say you've totally lost me. 00**
