And Morgen Agren is a free jazz drummer, but he did do Sol Niger Within with Fredrik Thordendal. So i see what you mean with that one.
Dave Lombardo,Vinnie Paul
The more things change,The more they stay the same.
I saw Meshuggah live once - them and Mary Beats Jane supported Machine Head, back in 1993 I think it was... Was Haake with them then? (sorry if thats a stupid question - I don't know a lot about them or him)Originally Posted by SpugIsGod

Alright, seems as though Prog Metal drummers arent getting any recognition here =/
Jason Rullo - Symphony X (hes so damn good)
Eric Lebailly - Adagio (underrated neo classical prog band, great drumming)
Mike Terrana - Rage (just. WOw. he has the sexiest hair EVER TOO!)
Richard Christy - Death/Iced Earth
Bernhard Huber - Dreamscape - the new album "End of Silence" some real controlled double bass work, damn
Uli Kusch - Gamma Ray / Helloween very underrated power metal drummer
Ed Warby - Ayreon - Wow, one of the most underrated drummers in the scene, its easy tho with the long list of guest guitarists/singers on each album
Gene Hoglan - SYL/Death - Dayyyum. He did the drum tracks for the new SYL album in THREE DAYS! HOLY ****.
George Kolias - on the new Nile Album - I've heard one song and a 40 second solo ,and he qualifies, tis saying a lot.
Flo Mounier - Nuff said.
Nick Barker - Cof/Dimmu/OLD MANs CHILD - one of the only death metal drummers that sounds melodic in his drumming, and hes a big boy too.
Thomen Stauch - Ex-Blind Guardian - <3 his feet. After watching/hearing him on their live DVD, *******. Hes so damn good.
Alex Holzwarth - Rhapsody - Sure he plays one pattern, but its a damn good one, props to be able to play blazing double bass for entire shows/ albums.
theres more to add, but I'll save that for a rainy day. AIM for info on any of these bands, if you're interested in hearing them, or check out their websites (google is YOUR FRIEND)
