    Default Natural Masters mismatched kit

So I sold all my Reference drums to fund my Masterworks order (which I have not placed quite yet). In the meantime I picked up this used Masters kit at a good value, mismatched drums, but all 6 ply maple so they sound great regardless.

    10x8 Natural Maple
    12x8 Birdseye Maple
    16x14 Natural Maple
    22x16 Birdseye Maple

All toms have fat tone hoops, so far I haven't really noticed much of a difference in sound from what I had on my reference with Mastercast but maybe when I replace heads it will be noticeable.

Also I may or may not sell the two natural maple toms and get birdseye to match?

I have used only a 4 piece for a long time but wanted to toy around with having a 10" rack tom and get used to that again. Sorry about the mess in the pictures, I'll clean the area up and get my 2002s out and take some more pictures soon.

Nice ! Mix of an old masters MRX with an MCX. You can sell the MRX and get a nice floor tom from ebay perhaps.

I like that a lot - as long as it all sounds good, that's all that matters IMO.

I'd try to sell the MRX stuff and add on MCX. No one will probably ever notice on the stage.... But it's always a option

Yeah it's just my slight OCD that sometimes gets the best of me. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with an extra rack tom in my setup. I have been playing with only 2 toms for many years now so I need to work on some new grooves to include the 10" and see whether I want to use the 5 piece kit live or not. The kit sounds awesome though, quite a bit better than the all maple Renown kit I used to own and honestly every bit as good as the Reference. The kick actually sounds better than the Reference, but I have different heads.

I prefer 5 piece to 4 myself as that's what I played and got used to in my early years. Interesting you think the kit is as good or better sounding than Ref, a drummer friend said the same between my two kits. I like them both two.

They might have a different middle initial in their 3-letter name, and look slightly different from each other, but they definitely share that same killer sound!

Whether or not, if you sell off the two MRXs for matching MCXs, you still have a fantastic kit to tide you over till you're ready for your Masterworks kit!

Took these drums out for the first time, and it was a HUGE success. Holy crap these sound so good. I let the other bands use them and the best part of this kit? The 16x14" floor tom sounds amazing. They all do, but the floor tom is in its own world.
