..And of course there is a Pearl version - the Pearl EHH2:

Here's hoping it will work great on the r.e.d.box/Dm10 without any firmware update - I'm concerned about any crosstalk to the cymbal from closing the pedal...

how does this improve playability? it seems the single pad/pedal does all the same things. if it does not greatly increase the playability/response of the hat to be more like an acoustic hat it is just there to look cool. hope to hear some feedback from early adopters!

I have to wonder if the Pearl will offer it in the Brass too.

    Hi,

The Pearl Hi Hat is called the EHH-2.

We developed it with the Alesis engineers.

It will go into production in February with a release date of May.

Yes it will need a software update .

No cross talk issues were encountered and the two cymbals do not interfere with each other with the correct
    calibration.

    Thanks,
    Bob

The EHH-2 is in production and it won't be ready to ship until August.

Some software revisions had to be completed before we could start production.

    Sorry for the delay,

    Bob

Do you have any information as to what changes you have made in the firmware regarding the hi-hat?
Subduing crosstalk to the hi-hat cymbal when closing it? Better handling of simultaneous close and hit? Or something else?
