Default My Pearl VBL Clear Birch

Hey guys, I've been wanting to share some pics of my Vision kit with you. I bought this kit last November (sorry it's taken so long to post pics!). At the time, I was admiring how many forum members have 2 or more drum kits. So I figured I needed a kit for my band's practice room, and why not purchase a Vision kit? It just made sense to me, the Vision line is affordable, and to me, the Clear Birch finish is the best looking of the Vision line.

Since my Masters MCX kit is set up on an icon rack, I realized that it was pretty difficult to travel around with it. Don't get me wrong, I love having it set up on the rack, I just realized that sooner or later I'd play a gig where there wouldn't be much time for set up and tear down, so this was another reason why I bought my Vision kit with 900 series hardware.

I bought this kit through Midwest Percussion, and initially I was just going to purchase the 5 piece shell pack, but as I researched the cost of the add on drums, I realized that it was within my budget to add an 8"x7" tom and 14"x14" floor tom. One of my favorite parts of this purchase was that I placed the order on a Wednesday, and the following Wednesday it was delivered to my house. All 7 drums.

About the drums: first of all, they are beautiful drums. The finish on them is spectacular. There are some obvious differences between my Vision kit, and my MCX kit. For example, the 8" Vision tom has 4 lugs, where my MCX 8" tom has 5 lugs. Also, my Vision bass drum has 8 lugs, while my MCX bass drum has 10. I'm sure there are several other differences, but those are the first two that I noticed. As far as sound is concerned, these drums sound great! I've read a lot about how birch drums bring out the "highs" in sound, but to me, this kit shines in the low sounds that it produces. The floor toms and bass drum sound really deep. I'm really impressed with the sound that I get out of the bass drum. It is really deep sounding, and LOUD!

Here are the specs of my Vision kit:

    8"x7" tom
    10"x8" tom
