Hey guys, just wanted to share my latest weekend project.
Bit the bullet and decided to paint my own reso head, and I'm happy to say that everything came out great!
FWIW, I have never picked up a paintbrush in my life...

I followed most of the steps directly from this video...
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4lU8MWZjOI

only thing I did differently was use Photoshop to design my stencil and after I was content with the way it came out, I added two matte clear coats (spray paint) to protect the acrylic because it does flake off easily.

after all was said and done, I did notice a little more dampening on the reso head due to the clear coats, but definitely not enough to affect the overall sound of your bass...

Now, if you decide to do this, I would suggest you get a bottle of 100% acetone to remove any paint residue just in case you're not happy with the way it's coming out.

Here is a before and after!

I would like to add that it is very important that you take your time during the painting process. It'll definitely be worth it in the end!!

    Holy hell, that looks beautiful.

I generally like coated bass resos, but that one looks so much better AFTER you painted it. I guess I've just never seen a paint job on a coated bass head before.
    Currently looking for:

    (used) CH2000's.

I've always liked these sort of patterns, especially when they are only across part of the head. Makes it look artsy. Good stuff!

I think that looks fantastic, Is that a smooth white PS3? It looks perfect with your artwork. I also like that you can remove the logo on smooth heads, unlike coated, or fibreskins.

Yep! Smooth PS3 with logo removed. I absolutely love how it came out, now I want to try it on a fiberskyn!
