Just gotta share some crazy BS.
I have insurance, so my bills are pretty much covered.
If I didn't have insurance my total cost so far would be about $231,000.
Since I do have insurance, the hospital gave the insurance company a... get this... $201,000 discount!
$201,000!!!!!! WTF???
CAN YOU SAY RACKET?!?!?!?!

That is incredible. I saw somewhere the history of health care costs, and how they have increased exponentially as "insurance coverage" has increased. Bottom line, when I was a kid and my parents paid for health care, it was out of pocket, unless it was something very serious (like my Mom needed surgery once), and health care costs in general (based on this story) were very low. So, the more insurance has been involved,the more expensive health care has become. Originally Posted by erwinner

I knew that they gave discounts to the insurance companies, but 90% really blew my mind.
There really is a whole industry out there designed to keep the poor poor and it is disgusting to me.
