well they are real drums. I am pretty sure they aren't a $2000 picture of drums.

But the description of the drums themselves tell you who made them, what the shells are and the hardware. They aren't a Pearl brand drum kit, if that is what you mean by real.

on a side note, I wouldn't mind a kit just like this though. Minus the offset lugs and the gold hardware.

I like the description, Reference/Masters. The whole point of the Reference line is the different blendings of Birch, Maple and Mahogany for the different sizes. I doubt you could get that sort of "blending" with plastic. The only thing reference on those drums is the hardware.

    So true ^^

I would love Pearl to produce an acrylic set. It would be pretty sweet IMO, but that isn't a very large market...

Sad thing is everything on this kit could be had for very cheap. The price killer is getting those Reference Lugs.
I love when my cymbals talk dirty to me.

It's not an acrylic Reference set, it's RCI acrylic shells with Pearl Reference hardware.

He's got a little bit of Everything on these drums:

    Pearl Reference Gold Plated Lugs
Pearl Stainless Steel Tension Rods w/ ultra thick White Pearl Nylon Washers
Pearl Super Hoop II rims (chrome)
Pearl Gold Plated Threaded Vents (1 on each tom 2 on kick)
Toms are fitted with Gauger Rims Mounts, DW Brackets, DW Floor Tom Legs
Bass Drum is outfitted with Pearl SP30 Spurs (Masters series not Reference)
Pearl Reference Claws w/ rubber gaskets
12 ply maple BD Hoops Chrome Wrapped w/ Pearl HPP2 BD Hoop Protector

While I guess I would applaud his creativity, the reality is that this is an abortion

The color certainly isn't for everyone, but I think he did a great job on the kit. Not worth $2000 to me unless I built or had it built custom for me...but it looks nice.
