Wow, I used to play that pearl free float you have there with die cast hoops. It was 8" deep and it was a skull cracking snare! Awesome. So what is your all-around favorite? The one you could use pretty much in any situation?

I really don't have a favorite. It's like picking your favorite child.

I do like this SC Bubinga, I just got it actually. It's got a BIG sound, and nice crack. The Supra I also just got. I like it too, meaty and fat on the backbeat.

I guess if I had to pick some faves, that little Pearl 13" Piccolo would be up there. The Sensitone 5.5 steel is nice, and a steal for how little money those sell for. The Bubinga. The Oak Custom I need to spend some more time with and try a different head. It's really ringing bad with just a regular Emperor coated, and not big and bassy like the Oak Custom drums at all. Then there's the FF Brass, I don't know, they're all nice in their own way!
