Default NEW VBX Ruby Fade pics with Canopus snare

Working towards perfecting the configuration. Nothing drastic as far as the setup, other than my creative use of clamps.
Instead of mounting the toms on cymbal stands, I've done the reverse and mounted cymbals off the tom arms.

I've also moved the slave pedal to the outside so I can pull the hi hats in closer.

It's now apparent to me I could benefit from a few more cymbal stands.
Some of these boom arms are almost touching due to the limited positions of the clamps.
But at the same time, here's a testament to Pearl's hardware.
I've got 2 toms and 8 cymbals mounted on only 3 stands.

The snare you see is my prized 13x6.5 Canopus Solid Zelkova snare drum.
This drum is carved straight out of the log with absolutely no seams - 100% solid shell.

On standby I also have a 20" Zildjian ZHT flat ride and
a Mapex Black Panther maple/cherry 13x6 (used in place of the Canopus for outdoor playing).

    Specs as usual:

    Pearl VBX Ruby Fade - 10x8 12x9 14x14 22x18
    Canopus Solid Zelkova 13x6.5

    14" Sabian AAX-celerator Hi-hats
    16" Sabian AAX Dark Crash
8" Zildjian A Fast Splash (inverted on 16" crash)
    8" Sabian AAX Splash
4" bell (cut down from cracked 16" A Custom crash)
    18" Zildjian A Custom Crash
7.5" LP Ice Bell (inverted on 18" crash)
    20" Sabian HHX Stage ride
    16" Zildjian Oriental China Trash

    Eliminator double pedal
    DW 9000 series snare stand
    Tama First Chair throne

Remo Clear Emperors on toms, EMAD on kick

Vater FATBACK 3A or Vater Fusion (wood tips)

    ENJOY!

These photos were taken without flash.

The Canopus snare - pics taken when I first got the drum 10 years ago.

In this photo I've drawn a thin blue line to show the shell's outer spherical lathing
which makes the bearing edges undersized in relation to the head.

The Mapex Black Panther 13x6 maple/cherry (on standby)

The Mapex Black Panther was free when I bought a Pro M a few years back.

The Canopus I won from a Modern Drummer contest in 2000. But I saw one in a store this past February for $1500.

Why EMAD and a blanky? Oh and i dunno why more people dont do the cymbal off the tom instead of the other way, more stability for sure.
