Not that I know of. Maybe he does now but I've never seen them.

Not sure, he certainly plays a very consise volume - it's likely his kick could just be gated through the desk. More of a superficial trigger.

Either way you look at it, they're still playing just as fast!

That's not why I'm asking, I'm just curious how he gets his sound to be so crisp, and yet all be the same volume. If it isn't triggers, it's very impressive. I'm one of the few who thinks using triggers is a VERY valid option, and not "cheating" at all. I don't understand people who think it's cheating, music is an art, not a game.

Well it's one of the two - I played a show last night with a band called Architects with Misery Signals and A Textbook Tragedy and my kick was gated so it effectively was a trigger and made my kick just sound perfect.

It's also an issue of how tight your heads are - using dynamics with your kick isn't a bad thing at all. I use it all the time and using a trigger for my band's first show really annoyed me as my kick only triggered when I hit the optimum velocity. Not my cup of tea!

So yeah, all in all, it's either triggered or gated...or he's just chuffin mint.

No Chris doesn't use them... At least, not that I know of. You have to remember, skilled drummers are able to play with consistent volume. And if not, there are many other ways to equalize it.
