    Default Roland VS1680 R-Bus/ADAT Converter..

Hey Guys, I have a Roland VS1680 stand alone hard drive mixer/recorder, I am wanting to transfer recorded songs via ADAT.

I have been looking at the "Roland DIFAT24 Interface Box for RBUS/ADAT" and I am just wanting to know if it will actually work! lol, has anybody used one of these before?

The VS1680 is a fairly old product and there seems to be very little info around for the DIFAT24 so I have no idea lol.. I will send Roland an Email but I would love to hear from anyone who might have some idea on here..

    Link:
    Roland's DIFAT24 Site

    Thanks!

    why wouldnt it work?

you just connect the R-Bus output to the box, and the box ADAT output to the ADAT input of your interface/computer.
make sure that the lightpipe port you want to use on your comp/interface is ADAT-Optical and NOT S/PDIF-Optical. otherwise you will only get 2 channels of audio at a time. make sure the software you want to use can be slaved to EXTERNAL MTC via ADAT, otherwise you might have to use a MIDI cable to sync the two devices. Make sure your samplerates, bitdepths, TC framerates, etc...MATCH PERFECTLY! dont set your framerate to 29.97df if the incoming TC is 30ndf.
Official Recording Tip of the month for November:

Sometimes, things just need to go to 11.

lol yeah, I know how to sync devices via midi timecode ect. It turns out it doesn't work as the VS1680 was made before they implimented the RBUS format heh, and of course Roland want you to buy their latest units in order to get one! ..kinda dodgy but ahh well, I will just sync it to my computer via MTC and send two channels at a time using S/PDIF.. thanks for the reply though!
