Pearl's not big on 8 inchers, I have an 8" free floater (brass) and they used to have a maple 8" free floater also and a MLX Standard 8" maple 10 lug. Im sure they'll make you one in the masters series. You can make a 6.5 free floater into an 8" by adding a keller 8" (flat bottom) shell and using longer tension rods.

Another thing Pearl is not big on latley, but I feel they're missing out, is hammered shell's. They used to have them and gave up because they were not selling. Insiders at Pearl say they're considering bringing back some hammered shell's, we'll see.

The 14 x 8 snare is still a choice on the Masterworks price list.

i'd like to know that too - the head you are using as batter - what head is that? it looks like same as muse drummer dominic howard and a few others like nicholas barker used to use them, it seems because it's overly deadened and little-to-no-difference-in-articulation/sheer flat but consistent tone.

14x8 free floaters pop up on ebay sometimes, but if you don't want to wait or want a new drum, check out the Tama G Maple.
