Yeah, I stumbled on a friend of mine selling an ICON, so I lucked out there! Still undecided on the DR-1's fate, as I will prob never go back to it. Keep me posted about how it goes!
You know, I haven't tried it. I got an ICON with enough clamps that I didn't need to try it. I would think that it wouldn't be as secure, so I myself probably would not do it. Have you gone ICON as well? All here is good... just not playing much right now, but working on remedying that! Hope all is well with you as well!!
Just got done with the pics! Looks great!!
Well, the clamps I had to track down via eBay, and all of them have the original gaskets under them. I usually found a clamp or two on eBay that I could butcher for whatever parts I needed to complete any of the ones I had. That's the best way to do it, I think.
I've just been lucky to come across some of the gear I have as time went on, but I am very protective and careful with it as well. The DR-1 has paint chipping on the corner pieces, and I suppose I could touch them up eventually, but since I found out from Paul Jamieson that the square leg DR-1's are a first edition (Paul's name isn't even on the badge), I am reluctant to do any cosmetic work anymore. As for the arm, it's factory issued that way. Before suspension mounting, they offered most of the arms with the longer tops to accommodate the arms intruding into the shells. You can find some of these on eBay as well from time to time, and in the geared as well as gearless models from that time.
Thanks for the kind words!
