Ash Tone Blocks For Drumset

I'm interested in adding a wood block sound to my kit. I see in the new price catalog there are some new items called Ash Tone Blocks, p/n PAB-20 (or -50). Are these real wood blocks that I can add to the kit, and can they be mounted to my bass drum hoop like a cowbell?

You might want to try the NEW PBL20 Clave Block which has the same pitch as the PAB20 ASh Block, but far more durable for drumset use.
