What kind of sound does the birch/mahogany cmbo make. I always wonder whether the natual eq of the birch cancels out the deep resonance of the mahogany. how would you classify that sound?

No.the birch is so sweet and with its nice highs..it enhances the mahogany without making it sound like a wet paper bag or even too mid range..

I've seen a tom from this kit in person :D . Let me tell you, the picture does not do it justice. The color is so rich and deep and the contrast between the color and the chrome hardware just looks SO good.
