That's the problem Masters has everything. Pearl needs to evenly distribute options between all there drums. SRX which is only a grade lower then Masters and does not even come close to the same option as a Masters.

just read a post from Gene the other day - you can't special order colors on the SRX
Sessions are also the lowest-owned Pearl drum series.
I think. There was a poll taken a while back. They are "caught in the middle" between hobbyist and professional drums, so they are the least bought. Export and Forum are the most bought obviously, followed by Masters series. Then it's Session. But I guess in truth, Masterworks is the least bought drum series, but that's besides the point. People either care enough to shell out the extra cash for a masters, or they don't care enough so they buy an Export. Session is in a tough place, loke a "middle child" of Pearl.

Bear in mind the session is a relatively new line of drums so maybe thats why they aint selling as much.

very true, but i don't think that the sessions are that far away from masters MRX, cause if you think about it, Mastercast hoops, Possibility of Virgin, hardware colors, and different colors, other wise, they are about the same.......and take in to account taht you can change session hardware, if you find a powdercoater, or do what chewie did, and paint it ya self

i read on a post that Pearl uses Grade A Maple (for example) for the outer and inner (i think) plies of Masters drums with Grade B in the middle. Sessions are either all B or a B/C combo, i dont really remember.

the grade of maple is for asthetic purposes only, all woods are graded like this.
Birch is the same way.
A grade maple would have the most desirable grain patterns, with not burls of anything
B grade maple is the second most desireable asthetically, and can be found on the exterior of SRX drums
C grade may have dark spots, and other undedesirable features, which dont affect sound

Well i personally am buying a session just because of the quality and the awesome features your getting for the price and how can you turn down the GREEN BURST!

You know if you think about it, the masters could get cought in the spot where the sessions are. the reference series falls right above the masters, and being a new series and amazing drums in general, they will be bought left and right. the sessions are starting to pick up, ive started to see more and more members on here with sessions kits. masters are great, i'd love to have one when i out grow my premier. but...well i guess it's just a thought.

good point^^^^^

Aesthetic options, yes, I agree. However, the sound is practically identical.
Bear in mind the session is a relatively new line of drums so maybe thats why they aint selling as much.
Sessions are 10+ years old...

Indeed, Mastercast hoops can be ordered, Session virgin kicks can be special-ordered, hardware colors can be powdercoated...

I don't think that will happen for a few reasons:
1.) There will still be a ****load of people who will want "100%" shells (i.e. Masters), because that's just the sound they like.
2.) There will still be the same amount of people who will want to fully customize their kit, and being only a few $100s more, they will go the extra distance.
If anything, Reference will get caught where Sessions are, because of the division between people who want "100%" shells and fully-customized drums, especially when the jump from Reference to MW was only like, $700MSRP, that I saw.
Session : Master's : : Reference : Masterworks
