Wide,
Humes & Berg make great products in every price range. Hard & soft.
I have Tuxedos which are soft padded cordura.
I handle and transport my own gear so I don't really need hard cases.
If you have to ship by air or truck or trust a grunt to handle your
instruments, of course go with hard cases.
Good luck!
Ditto...Tuxedos are what I use for my srx's...Durable and fair priced

Musicians friend.com has great prices on some SKB roto-molded hard cases lined with foam. Very good cases.

I went with Humes & Burg Galaxy bags. They're cheaper than the tuxedo bags and I'm pleased with the quality and protection offered by the Galaxy bags. I move my own drums also so I don't have to worry about a yutz banging them around. (Just me). If you want extra protection, no matter what bag you get, get the bag an inch deeper than the actual size of the drum. Then buy some 1/2 inch thick foam from a craft store and cut to fit top and bottom of the bag. The foam is usually pretty cheap and will offer alot of extra protection. Good luck.

Have you checked out the Pearl cases as well? Not sure if you knew that was an option. Just throwing that out there.
Thanks

i say hard shells man. if you bang the bags on an edge of a wall it might dent the drums, but a hard shell case will protect the drums.

Just got my new SRX a few weeks ago, and i'm looking for cases too... I was thinking... what about the OptiMount system? Do i have to take it off everytime i need to carry them around?? It suckz if it has to be like that! Tuning stuff all over again... If anyone knows good cases that can be sold in Europe please reply to this.

The cases do have room for the mounts.

Unfortunatly that goes for the ISS Mounts also. Kinda a pain but the way I look at it, I'll take a couple extra minutes to save my drums from being abused:)

I sprung for the nifty "Pearl" standard fabric bags and they are great so I can store them safetly in my dorm room or something. NO ROOM FOR THE ISS mounting in the pearl bags either, but I have no problem taking them off and putting them in the hardware bag. Everything fits reletively well except for the 16" floor tom bag, it is a little too long for the drum... My only complaint.
I ordered from Musiciansfriend.com for I think $160. I just want to keep the drums in top condition.:D

I just bought a set of Protection Racket M.I.T.S drum bags for my Prestige Session Select kit and they are great. I have Optimounts on my drums and they still fit in the assigned sizes with no problem. The bags have a foam center with a synthetic fleece inner liner and seem very durable. You can check them out at www.protectionracket.com.

I would say it depends on what type of vehicle you drive. If you have a truck, hard cases are a must.
I use a van, and have been using Tuxedo bags, and they work great. I've ran my bass drum into door jams, walls, you name it, and no dings what so ever.

Jeffrey is spot on, I use em too. No good though if you ship your kit freight, AIR freight in particular, they can get wrecked by air even in hard cases ! For general use you cant beat em though !

I have never had any problems with my tuxedos. If you are going to be traveling a lot get hardshell cases. When I get my new set I will be getting Protector hardshell cases. Recommend those as the best.
