Hey all. I'm going to start saving for a new drumset soon. (as of now, I'm using a Sonor force 2001) I was wondering. Should I buy a Pearl SRX, or build a custom kit. I'm attracted to the custom kit because I can pick all the sizes of every tom, and get whatever color I want... So what is everyone else's opinion?
well i think it kinda depends
u will only want a custom kit if you know what you realyl need. let say if you want a custom kit made of maple. might as well by the srx since is 100% and srx cost a lot less
but you really need to get a specific size or a wood, go for custom.

thanks, that's kind of what I'm hoping to do. I guess it all just depends on the amount of money I save up. I just wanted to hear other people's opinions.

well, it depends if you want a wrap, because you can't get that on an SRX, and if you want Black or Brass Hardware, and if your willing to acctually build it

I don't want a wrap, I am willing, and I was going to redo the hardware on the srx in black after i got it. (if i decided on that) but im still drawn to picking the size of every drum individually.

can't say anything about the new sessions. but i have a sessions select (they don't make them anymore... maple and mahogany) and i love them. top notch drums for the price. pricewise, there's going to be a chasm of difference between srx and custom, and maybe not a worthy quality difference if you don't already know you want custom.
