how would you rate the session snare compared to other maple snares on the market? I plan on buying a session within a few months and i am debating on whether to get the snare with the set or buy component drums.

Hey, do you have a link to that Modern Drummer article?

Whatever you do, KEEP the SRX snare drum, it's a fantastic drum.

I second James' opinion on the Session snare. I've been changing the tuning alot as of late and found that has a suprisingly broad range of sounds.

I just bought the session custom snare, and I'm very happy with it.
