They exists in Masterworks, so the shell molds are around, could One (such as i) get a 26" reference bassdrum? or is that a masterworks only affair?

i got my 26" x 14" custom Tama SC maple last week and it kicks *****! its got that great bonham sound but if you don't put any muffling in it and tune it up a bit higher then normal you get a cool marching bass drum effect.
it took me awhile to get but the 26" is worth it.. it sounds quite different from my 24"'s and much different from my 22"'s.

I just got a Tama SC maple 14" x 26" bass drum (special order) and its amazing! I've used it on a few recordings and it kicks *****. however i will say that i wouldn't use it as my go to bass drum! It takes some time to get used to that big of a head! I also have (2) 16" x 24" bass drums that work all around for rock gigs and even some pop recordings.
i still love my 16" x 22" SC maple drum and use it for most live work, however I got a 18" x 22" Bass with my Exotix 5 kit and that extra 2" really adds some Boom! If its your only BD i say play it safe and go with the 24" they can roar but still have definition!

If it helps, http://www.massmusic.net only has a 24" listed. But with as much power as they say the Reference Bass Drum has, how could they not offer a 26"?

You can order a MW with RF spec shells, including the same bearing edges and finishes. So essentially, yes...you can get an RF 26" bass drum (with a MW badge), but not stock, no. Possibly special order, but you'd have to get approval/confirmation from Pearl Headquarters through a dealer.

I rememebr asking about the 26" ages ago, and you can special order it in Master MRX only. You can get it in Masterworks, and i dont think they are doing it in reference at all, its kind of on of the few things seperating the lines.
If you ask me, reference should have been added to the masters line anyway. Theres too many bleeding lines to choose from!

Well, at the time i was in a big John Bonham/John Theodore phase, and they used 26" Bassdrums..
I was inthis phase until i realized that i can barely get a 22" bassdrum into my drumroom, let alone a 26".....so im lookin at a 20" right now

Hey, if you want to take out the door frame, buy a new one, cut the sheet rock, hang another door frame, hang the door, and paint it all for me
by all means go ahead. Otherwise, its stayin that size
