I was just wondering about what is the advantage to having rounded bearing edges. What is the difference between rounded bearing edges and 45o bearing edges (besides that one is round :p ) Thank you and maybe post pics of the two to show some comparison......

Its in the other posts here somewhere, but...

Rounder bearing edges will naturally produce a less sharp sound, since there is a less sharp contact between the head and the shell. The rounder the bearing edge, the more varied the head to shell contact will be as head vibration occurs, and hence less focussed.

Its a good idea for kicks and floor toms because they are naturally expected to produce phat round sounds.

Rounded Bearing Edges provide more focus to the drum with alot less ring.

What he said....... Oh and I think I read about the rounded edges and variation within a kit in the first threads from the Namm show when the Ref series came out. Do a search and see what ya find. I'll post a link if I come across it too.
