Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum. But to get to the point, I'm curious about rust removal. I've noticed that on my hi-hat stand (about 4 years old - Tama), that rust has started to form. Also, it's started to form on some other minor spots on my hardware.

Any suggestions on how to remove this without harming the hardware and costing me a fortune?

Thanks!
Corey

good old automotive crome polish can't be beat. some cymbal cleaners work well on the crome as well. The best thing to do is clean and polish often enough to avoid letting rust start. A good complete cleaning involves disasembling hardware and drums to get to the places where rust starts. When you do this regularly you will never let rust get started and harsh cleaners won't be necessary.

Bug and Tar cleaner (automotive shhtuff) can work pretty good too on stubborn marks.

On your lug screws... attach them to a drill and drill into a piece of wool in a vise or something.

Doesn't really answer your question directly, but I thought you might want to know.
