I've had my sessions select for about 3 years now and Remo pinstripes seems to work for me and a Powerstroke 3 on the bass. Snare wise, I experimented with several different brands and really haven't found any that have stood out. For longevity, try an Evans or coated Remo. You'll have to do alot of trial and error to find the right feel for your style but just have fun doing it!!! Rock on:)

I have a Sessions Select and just landed on the same head configuration as Fred, here. I also started using the Evans Resonant Gate System, which gives my low-tuned kick a real kick-you-in-the-chest sound (after a couple years of no muffling whatsoever). One thing to keep in mind, though, is this guy is talking about a modern Sessions kit which is all maple and has a different timbre. The Select line was maple AND mahogany, which I think is a little warmer. I guess it depends on the tone you want with those all-maple shells. If you want it open with lots of attack, go with Evans Genera G2. If you want Eq'd and less sustain, go with the Evans Hydraulic. If you want a nice, fat, in-between those two... go with that exact Remo configuration.

Have fun!!!!
