well figure if a four piece shell kit would cost more than a masters shell kit, and you have 8 drums there. I am willing to say that would put you in the 4-5 grand range without any hardware.

I think it'd be a bit more than that. There is alot more work put in than that put into a masters, the reference series is like the pearl perfection. Your best bet is to talk to someone from your local store, or organise it with someone like Andy from MassMusic.com . Good luck.
Oh, and yes, It does sound like a nice metal kit, minus the three 18" floor toms:| Id go with a 16" by 14", an 18" by 16", and maybe a 15" floor tom, too.

Go 12x9 instead of 12x10. Definatley go 16 and 18. 18 and 18 is a waste of money. You can't tune them different enough to tell a big difference.
I think dw drummer is right about the 18" but they do make nice kik drums like a hip gig setup.

I think... 22x20, 22x20, 8x8, 10x9, 12x10, 14x11, 16x16, 18x16.
Reasoning... you want something to stand out, true? The 20" deep kick will be huge, and quite unique for anyone in your area. That's why you spend the money. To be different :)
Also, you really, really, really - REALLY - want to have toms that have even intervals as much as possible. You can easily tune up a 14x11, but you can't detune a 13x11 :) the depth is the major issue with positioning and tone IMO.

The smoother the interval changes, the less offensive the tuning changes.
