I was servicing my pedal today and I noticed again that the horizontal shaft on the slave pedal connecting to the black shaft which connects each pedal has quite a bit of travel between posts, the bearing on each posts can move in and out quite a bit. Is this how the pedal is supposed to be or do I have a problem? If so, how do I go about correcting it?

Also, the footboard on the main pedal is a little loose where it connects to the heel plate and can rattle a little too. Is there anything I can do about this or is it just wear and tear?

If it makes any difference, I've had the pedal since May 2001.

Thanks

The wiggle in the footboard is from wear and tear.

The loose bearings could be from the support post taking a hit while transporting or also from wear and tear.

When I was in retail, I saw many pedals where the bearings became loose from normal use. I used to take the pedals apart and carefully, and I mean carefully, I'd pull the support posts away from each other a little at a time. After each pull, I'd put the axle and bearings back to see if the original spacing was acheived. I had excellent results with this method however I did break one frame in all those years...not a Pearl. It takes patience and "feel" to do this correctly and I don't recommend that you try it yourself. I highly recommend that you take your pedal to the shop where you purchased it or a repair person who has done this before to do the repair.

Okay thanks. I've been planning to get an Eliminator soon so I might just do that and have done with it.
