If I were Pearl I'd get rid of those ugly green/light blue colors and replace them with white mist and red mist options. And, if possible, make a natural finish available.

My favorite color for exports is Teal Mist(discontinued:( )
I have a '97 ELX in teal and it is gorgeous. Sorta green, sorta blue, depending on the lighting.
I wish they still came in that color.

Has anyone seen the new ELX color?? I created a separate thread about it. I believe it is called amber fade. It is much like the Vintage Fade of the Sessions, but with a more defined black color at the bass of the drum. My fav ELX color by far.

Hey dmerrell. . .what kind of cymbals are those? They look pretty big. and about the Amber Fade color, the first place i saw it was at a drumshop here. Not guitar center, because i hate guitar center, but at a local drumshop. Guitar center is advertising it as an exclusive GC only kit. . .but i've seen the kit in person now. .and its actually being advertised by a number of sellers. . .which i think is bad considering GC is calling it an exclusive, but its definitely a cool lookin kit. I just can't figure out where it fits in with the other elx colors. . .but oh well. I hope we'll see some new colors soon.

musicians friend also said it was exclusive, but you know everyone and their dog has them... as for the color i like the amber mist a lot but the blue mist is the best.

15" sweet HH's
10" & 12" A Splash's
And a 16" Sabian O Zone - very nice

Wow, thats a nice setup. Thats an interesting mix of cymbals too. Man, that constantinople ride. . .those cymbals just sound amazing. And each one is so unique. For jazzier gigs though, i'll use like. . .a 21" Sabian Andre Dececelarri Hot Ride, or one of those 21" K custom special dry rides. The constantinoples are great big band rides, for that classic sound. What styles of music do you play? Because you could cover a lot of sounds with all of those rides. Thats an intriguing cymbal setup.

Hi Jonathan
I'm not with a group at the moment, But I enjoy Many types of music. The three large Rides all have different voices which are great to swith back and forth with (even during the same song). I Must say I do love my Custom K's. I also just picked up a Sabian 16" O Zone (not in photo), It's an incredable Trashy Crash - Great sound.
I'd also like to add a 18x18 Fl Tom some time. but i'm running out of floor space! (would make for great 2-bar runs though)

Dylan, I finally got an image to upload to the Forum, so I am as shocked as you are! I didn't mean to upload an image of Anna Kournikova, but I just thought it was another lost cause and wouldn't show up anyways! Sorry!
Just joking with you Mr. D! But I didn't think it would work, so I didn't put anything but Hi as the post. And wouldn't you know, it worked!! But I saw where our Photoshop friend had put in in earlier, so I thought what the heck. Maybe I got it figured out now! Cheers, Leonard SRVSmile :D

Well, maybe not! All I see are the cymbals, but I just thought it was my slow 56k modem, and the drums and Anna would show up in a minute. Is that all you guys see, cymbals? Can't anyone see Anna playing that Pink Lemonade ELX kit? I took the picture while she was over here playing, but I don't think it uploaded correctly. She is actually a very good drummer!! Why exactly do you have a rack on that when you have 3 toms and not too many cymbals?
DizzyGrl17
08-19-2002, 03:29 PM
I'll take a guess at this one. prank if you don't mind.
He prolly has a rack NOW just to get the toms of his bass and, he plans on expanding his kit LATER so what the hell why not get a rack? I dunno. I'm prolly wrong.
prankmonkey
08-19-2002, 07:13 PM
You hit it on the head DizzyGrl17! BTW, BellSouth said a cable failed here in Boondocks, MS., so I've been without a phone AND the net all day. Unreal!
I've always wanted a Pearl rack, for the reasons Dizzy mentioned, as well as the following: It takes a LOT of weight off of your bass drum, which in turn lets the bass drum resonant more fully right along with the toms. Also, with the toms off the bass, I don't have to worry about my bass drum going out of round from their weight.
Also, people are not tripping over my cymbal stands and knocking over my expensive A Zildjian cymbals, which I love. I've seen my cymbal stands get knocked over more times than I care to remember, either from careless singers or other musicians, or people who get in the 'Spirit' at my church. They lose all track of where they are and what they are doing, and will dance right over things.
And as Dizzy pointed out, I've just begun! I plan on, within the next year, adding 2-3 crash cymbals, as well as Roto-Toms, and everything will be mounted on the rack, which is rock solid!!
Cheers! Prank :D PS: Also, I wanted one during my drug years, but never got it. Now that I've been drug free over 10 years and have a great job, I said what the heck, get it!! :p
I almost forgot the main reason I bought it. I love Pearl, but I always found myself reaching out for my drums, as when they are mounted on the bass they are to far away from me. This way, I can get the toms as close as I want, and no more reaching!!

Well, of course I am interested, but Cap'n Hook might ban us, and I sure don't want that! :( So I guess I'll have to pass, but list it on Ebay if you want to, and I'll look for it. If you do list it, you can E-mail me as it's available in the Members Profiles section, and I think that would be okay with Cap'n Hook. Thanks for the thought! Prank :D
DizzyGrl17
08-23-2002, 02:04 AM
I don't think Hook has ever banned a drummer because he is discussing selling some of his drum equipment to a fellow drummer.:( :) Doesn't really make sense to me. Hook you wouldn't do that would ya?
DizzyGrl17
08-23-2002, 02:13 AM
Oops. I just went to look at the rules to see where you got that prank, and Hook said "No selling. Use Ebay" :( You guys can do it through e-mail though.
Crabtree
08-23-2002, 10:59 AM
I made that post before I saw Hook's rules about no selling over the forum. I said that only because prank said he was thinking about buying Roto-Toms. I had no ideas or intentions to sell them here whatsoever. Its too late for me to delete that post I made though. Sorry for any inconveniences.

The Sahara Mist ELX kits I've seen in person look nothing like the ones in that pic. Maybe it's my old, tired eyes or monitor but I don't see any yellow in there...it looks more like Amber Mist to me. why did Pearl drop the Ebony mist??? basic black, man... sleek, elegant. or dark, evil... it's versitile and so timeless.
I didn't care about color when I bought my kit, so I let my wife decide. That way she's more involved with them so she's less likely to complain about the noise.

I keep hoping to shoot pictures of the Burgundy Mist kit I just got but I never seem to find the time.
My MLX kit is Liquid Amber which I like better than Amber Mist although I do like Amber Mist. Amber Mist also would be redundant for me so I was lucky that the ELX kit I hooked up with was Burgundy Mist. The kit was given to me so I didn't really have a choice. What I wasn't prepared for was all of the favorable comments I get for both its looks and tone and I'm still running the stock Protone heads.

Actually, a fade means the drum is one color on the top and fades into another color about halfway down and just stays that color to the bottom.
A burst is the same idea only the second color fades back into the first color creating a usually dark top and bottom with a ring of color around the middle of the shell.
Pearl makes both i.e. Vintage Fade and Diamond Burst.
