Why are China cymbals called chinas???

there are two kinds of cymblas
Tukish cymbals and Chinese cymbals
all the cymbals that we use (excpet chinas) are Turkish Cymbals, as they originated in Turkey way back when. Since they are so common, we just say cymbals.
however, China style cymbals originated in China way back when.
You'll find older (and some newer) percussion repetoire that says either Chinese cymbal or Turkish cymbal when denoting instrumentation.

cause they are kinda shaped like those chinese hats that they wore and it sounds like a large chinese gong
