I'm thinking of buying an ELX kit in one of the new 'fade' finishes, but am unsure which to go for. Which do you prefer?

I vote Ruby fade, because I have the SRX version, Cranberry fade.;)

I vote for autumn, because the red fade is awesome, but...it's red. Red is so common, red sports cars, red drum kits...now, that autumn fade is unique and awesome...go for it!

The ruby fade is nice, but the autumn fade just looks so classic. The transition area between the shading looks better in the available pictures, too.

Thats what I thought, Autumn fade looks a lot more classy in my opinion - reminds me of the classic 'sunburst' finish you get on guitars.

I think that the second one looks really cool. Thats what I'd get.

i don't like the autumn fade at all. too much yellow. it's not like the srx vintage fade which starts out orangish/brownish, which is perfect for this type of finish.

i thought i would like autumn fade, but i feel also that there is too much yellow, and it doesnt seem to fade so much as suddenly turn to brown, which i dont like. the ruby fade is a stunner however, i wish i had my elx in that now! i like the way the insides of the bd hoops are left natural as well, that looks really classy.
ruby fade, i reckon

I think I'm being slowly pushed towards Ruby fade, I like the classy looks of the Autumn fade but as has been said is a bit too yellow in the pictures I've seen anyway.

ruby all the way. im not a fan of the brown and yellow, although it does have the classic look. I've always wanted cranberry fade, but i didnt want the sessions...to pricy + maple. Im actually concidering getting the ruby. gotta save though.

The ELX double bass kits list for $2099, which means our price would be between $1200-1300, maybe a little less, but it come with a bit more hardware that the 5-piece kit does.

JEFFa.k.a.ANIMAL what do you mean "our" price would be around $1200-$1300? Im looking to but a new ELX kit soon and im trying to find a good deal for the double bass kit! Also can you get the double bass configuration in Canada or just US?

drummer dude 13

when do they start selling them?

JEFFa.k.a.ANIMAL
02-12-2003, 02:51 PM
BlackLightning, "our" price refers to the price one could expect to pay in U.S. dollars, as in a price that may be advertised on a website or in a catalog, it represents 40% off of list price.

drummer dude, from what I was told by a Pearl rep, the new colors are expected to ship in March or April, depending on how much warehouse space they have and/or how quick they can get rid of New old stock.

I think I've gone off Autumn fade, it just looks a bit too yellow when I look at it now, so I just ordered a 6-piece ruby fade kit (today)! Can't wait for it to get here, end of the month I've been told!:D

TIGHT! These drums (ELX825 RUby Fade) look so nice. Got them out and set up to play for the first time last Saturday and they sound great. I put Pinstripes on them, and baught tone-control rings as well to make the sound more focused and less ringy. Put the Weckl bass muffle in the bass, and I probably should cut a hole in the head and add a pillow, it is just too punchy and loud. The wardware is pimptastic too, quick and easy, very sturdy. It killed me to find a random scratch on the batter-side hoop of the bass drum though :( Is that covered under the warrantee do you think? Anywho this thread has been dead for a while, maybe I will get an answer...

You have to get the Autumn fade. Its so classic, so earthy, so cool. Its a really great way to showcase the grain of the wood. And about the yellowness, you cannot compare this fade to other classic fades, this isnt just a sunburst fade, these are the colors they wanted. The yellow was no mistake, its the yellow of Autumn dude. Forget Ruby.

Both would look sweet with black hardware, just special order them on a Masters series kit w/ black hardware, but be prepared to wait 6 months.

Just a whacky idea.........love the colors!!

Bullion

Ruby fade!! cuz thats what i'm probably getting
the Autumn fade would be nicer if the actual fade wasnt so subtle
theres almost a border between yellow and brown

man... ruby fade destroys autumn... i love my set! its a 5 peice and will be however many peices i can buy with the no money i have in the far future... sheesh... i need a job... how long do you think they will sell expanison packs for the Ruby Fade? a few years or what?

Phos
02-03-2004, 01:36 PM
That depends on how long Ruby Fade will continue to exist. But, if you look through these boards it's probably the most popular Session color, so I doubt it's going anywhere anytime soon.

drummerboy88

*sigh of relief* because i have no job and no way to raise money right now... and its gunna take time to buy stuff like that...
