Allright, since my GC's inventory is pretty limited, I really need your help. I wanna buy a whole new set of cymbals for my kit, I'm a medium hitter and play all kinds of rock. So far I have two set-ups in mind:

PAISTE 2002
14" heavy hi-hat
16" crash
17" crash
18" medium ( crash/ride )
20" heavy ride
and INNOVATIONS 18" medium china

or

SABIAN
AA 14" rock hi-hats
AAX 17" explosion crash
AA 17" medium crash
AA 18" medium crash
AA 20 " rock ride
AAX 18" china

Do you have any of those cymbals, or have tried them? I would really appreciate any feedback.
Tanks a lot.

P.S. So cool to have a cymbal forum:)

I would go with the Sabians because they are a lot more versitile, even though you play rock you may be asked to play a jazz gig or something like that.

Also, Sabians are many times cheaper.

Go with the Sabians... but you should replace the AA 14" rock hi-hats with the AAX 14" Stage-Hats, those have more "cut" and will project through better.

Hey, I'm not much of an expert with Sabian and Paiste, but if I had to choose, I would perfer Paiste over Sabian. Paiste is used by some good rock artists. Plus, the setup sounds good too! Hope this helps!

Sabian, and emo is right, go for the aax stage hats i reckon. i have some and they are superb, they just seem to sound good in any situation. have tried the stage crash at all? thats very nice in 16". also, hand hammered series features some really classy and great sounding rides like the powerbell ride or the rock ride. www.sabian.com has all the sound samples on.
cheers

definately paiste. though sabian is cheaper i would still say paiste if you are a rock drummer.

PearlFender1, yoho - you guys are the only ones to say Paiste.
Are you using them or have used them?
So now it's:

I love Paistes VS a lot of good feedback on Sabian

The best way would be to go and test them myself but as I said my GC doesn't have even a half of the cymbals I've listed:(
Or do you recomend mixing Paiste and Sabian?
Thanks.

I'd go with the paistes. Are the heavy hats the only ones GC stock? If not i'd go with the Sound Edge, more expensive, but awesome hats.

I really prefer paistes over most everything else (although sound is obviously the key factor). 2002's are reasonably versatile cymbals, and you certainly wont be disappointed.

Another vote for the 14" AAX stage hats. They are very versitile and their pitch sits in the middle of the cymbal spectrum.

Actually I do want the sound edge but it's more expensive, so the heavy hat is the second best thing I think.

Now, how about durability? How durable are the 2002s?
I know AAs and AAXs are pretty good at that, but how about 2002? I'm not a heavy hitter but I would like my cymbals to be able to handle more than what I'll ever have to put them through.

Thanks for your feedback guys:)

go with the paistes. They're great for rock, and pass for jazz too, especially the crashes. They've got a great sound. The 2002 sound edge's aren't nearly as good as the signature sound edges in my opinion, so don't worry about just going with the regular hats.

I vote for Paiste.

2002's are not gonna give you durabilty problems. They are bloody hard to crack... and they were used heavily by huge numbers of 80's rock drummers, who smacked the hell outta cymbals. Tommy Lee... Alex Van Halen etc.

Go with the paistes man. You wont regret it.

i love the 14" 2002 heavy hats. but beware as they are really high pitched
