Bongos

Hi I'm looking into buying some bongos soon but I'm not sure where to start. I'm looking for something not too expensive but good quality and sound. Any suggestions?

There are many good inexpensive models out there. Over the past 2 years the quality of the cheaper models are now as good as some of the pro lines. Check out the Pearl Primero series (wood or fiberglass). Most sell for under 100 bucks and are pretty killer.

If you cannot get the Pearl's, as an alternative, LP's Matador bongos are also a good bargain. They could be bought for around $100 and their quality is outstanding. (Matador's bongos are actually LPs premier bongos back in the 70s prior to their current top of the line Generation II and Giovanni bongos). The best thing about Matador is that all the replacement parts of the bongos are in LP standards so they are easy to find and get. (That includes heads, natural and synthetics).

alright thanks a lot i'll check out those 2. i think i'll go for fibreglass cuz they have more projection is that true? thanks :)

Its not that fiberglass are louder that wood, their frequency range is different and they have a better ability to acousically cut through the rest of the instruments. I am miked up (BETA 57 & SM 81), so wood is the way to go for me. Choose based on your needs. Either way, if you buy quality hand drums, you will not be disappointed.
