View Full Version : All pedals suck even the best one
Hey ppl. i dun give a damn if u give me the finger or whatever.
dont' you think is odd that the pedal shape is still meant for
" heel down"?? i think pearl should do something about it, and make a design for heel up? i think cams and stuff are just gimmicks. faster tighter springs. whatever that is. dosent' help at all. maybe a nicer pedal does give better feel, more smooth. yea it helps. so what? the pedals are still for heeldown~ for all heeldown players. you guys are lucky. since all pedals are design for u guys.

I'm a heel-up player and it doesn't bother me at all. I can get all the speed I need with my double pedal.

I too, play heel up on a standard Pearl pedal. Some People are given a bag of lemons and they make lemonade. Some people are given a bag of lemons and they stand there holding a bag of lemons. So I wouldn't say all pedals suck, but rather, some people who don't know how to adapt, need to be schooled.

I bought a Power Shifter Eliminator Double bass pedal over the summer and I'm satisfied with it. But I really got comfortable with P-100 tht came with the 2002 Export. It's extremely lightweight and I can go very fast with very little struggle. I actually fooled alot of people into thinking i was using a Double kicker while i was just using a really smooth P-100. I agree that no matter what you do it's tough to find a pedal that's just gonna be a perfect fit right out of the box. I wish Pearl could make a new power shifter that was lightweight but that also had that powerful attack

so how would you design a pedal for a heel-up player, anyway? if you level or even raise the footboard, your heal wouldn't be up anymore.

MAYBE....you should try to losen the spring. Its easier to push the pedal down.
Set your pedal up different ways and try a lot of pedals before you go bashing EVERY SINGLE ONE!!!!!
maybe its not the design of the pedal but your lack of openess to trying new ways of playing.
what kind of pedal do you use? have you played with every pedal in the market? i think a person should actually have used a pedal at least on more than one occasion to have a say if the pedal is good or not. trying one out in a music store helps but doesnt really give you all the benefits. you have to sit down and examine how it can be 'customised' for you.
regardless of the shape of the footboard (eliminator, dw, iron cobra etc..) you should still be able to addapt to it. its all about technique.
well, the word suck, i guess i shouldn't use that word. so sorry
i use 2 p100. not the woarse not the best.
you dont' have to agree. the best way to play drum is to relax? and not pounding everything. dont' you think this should apply to feet? i am not sure how i can explain this. when you are using heel up method, ur ball or your foot is pushed against the pedal, which in a long period time, it can cause stress. that isn'[t realxed. but if you imagine using your heel to push the pedal, won't it cause less stress. try it, everytime your heel strikes, it relaxes your legs. i am not saying relaxes 100%, but it helps. is just a thought

i play heel-up, and if the footboard was always touching the bottom of my shoe, sliding my foot for doubles and triples would be virtually impossible.

I think things are made the way they are for a porpouse, Pedals too, i donīt think they could still be used if they werenīt usefull at all.
my pedal is no big deal, itīs just a regular pearl p100 bass drum pedal and it works fine.
improve your playing by being in armony with the pedalīs mecanism and you shall take great advantage of it.
