I've been trying to find where they sell Refrence Kits. I've been looking since they came out and can't find any. Can any refrence owners tell me where they got theirs? Thank You.

Any Pearl dealer can order one for you. They're not actually out yet. I believe they'll start shipping in May.
Check your local Pearl dealer or visit MassMusic.net.

will they have reference show kits?
That depends entirely on the capital structure of your dealer. Some dealers operate with have high inventory values. Others operate with minimal inventory costs. Think right now about your deal. Do they have a lot of high end kits on display now? Do they stock Pearl Masters, Tama Starclassics, Yamaha Maple & Recording Customs, DW Collectors kits, etc.? If the answer is yes, then your dealer operates with high inventory capital and will most likely stock reference kits and have some on their floor.
If your dealer mostly stocks cheap kits and only special orders high end kits, then most likely they won't have any reference kits on the floor.

Yeah, from what ive seen, only one person on this forum has gotten a reference kit. Am I wrong?
Why doesnt pearl just ship them now? wouldnt it make more sense? Just my thought but it might gather more business. I would love to buy one.

No one has a Reference kit yet. You're likely thinking of AnimalGLX who made a thread about his Masterworks bearing edges being cut to Reference specs.
They're not shipping them yet because they're still manufacturing them at the factory. ;)

yeah thats what I was thinking. thanks. sorry for the confusion.
Now, do reference kits sound better than masterworks? Becuase I would think that rounded off bearing edges would sound better than traditional ones

Well...the idea of the Reference series is that they have done the hard part for you. Pearl has done research for many years on the sounds of woods. What they've done is compiled the best combination of woods and and put it together. Basically, a reference is a predetermined Masterworks set,and you just have to choose the color from the colors offered. Whereas for a MW, you have to choose the plies of woods. The advantage of a MW is that you pick the color, hardware, and sizes.
