Hay everybody, i have a question about Master Works snares. My drum teatcher has a Master Works kit and i just love the snare that he has. Its a 12 ply finished in natural. But my question to you is, can i order just a masterworks snare? And can i get it customized? And finally what would that cost me canadian? And how do i figure out the shells? I want a 12 ply with nice mid to high pitch sound qualities. Any help would be appreciated.
You don't have to by a whole Masterworks kit to get a Masterworks snare.
As far as sound goes, based on what you said you were looking for, I would suggest a combination of Maple and Mahogany, but there are alot of cobinations that would work.
Carl Peterson our resident Masterworks specialist would be the man on this subject.
He should be back on Monday, I'll mention this thread to him.

I appreciate your help. but i have one more question regarding colours. What colours am I allowed to choose? On the colour picker it shows only some colours for some of the series. How does that work?
Well, with Masterworks, if you can dream up the color combo, we can make it.

dunno about the 20 ply but about the 26x26 kicks...
search for threads discussing 24x24 kicks or about vinnie paul!
YouŽll find your answer there!
Believe me this has been discussed on this forum! :D
Dude.... if you want 20 ply drums, 26x26 kicks, and airbrushed finishes, go look at OCDP or Innovations or some custom kellar company.
The only thing that would ever tempt me away from eventually buying a masterworks is the non-custom graphic airbrush finishes.... and perhaps the lack of a 20x22" kick. :D
Still.... this is about the whole snare thing...
p.s that was to Vanilla (no offense meant...)

Last i recall, Gene said they cant do kicks deeper then 18" because of the sizes of there molds. Vinie Paul had to have his kicks specially made.

if you really want 20x22 or bigger kicks, why not get all the set made in mw except the kicks, then get ocdp to match the finish and use pearls lugs, hoops and optimounts etc. ocdp will do the right amount of plys i think, and then you have the kicks you want. the only difference would be the badge. i only wish i had enough money to consider any of these options...:(
Jamie... thats what i eventually plan to do... (this is in about 5 years or so.... :D).
Unless pearl have 20" deep kicks by 2008!
On a serious note: Carl, why doesnt the masterworks factory employ a highly-trained and skilled airbrush staff? When I eventually come to buying my whole dream kit thing.... it will probably be a graphic design finish i'd want (hell... i wouldn't say NO to any of the MW finishes....:)), but I so badly want the combination of Birch and Maple, or Birch and Mahogany, and I want my kit to be Pearl. Would there be obvious problems that I am missing, preventing the addition of airbrushed graphic finishes to Masterworks.
I know you aren't back yet (I don't think).... but if you are, or if anyone else can think of a reason why not, could someone let me in on it :).
Cheers...
