Im about to buy a 20" sabian hh leopard ride. I've checked the sound samples on sabians site and the ride must be good in metal and blastbeats, but what about softer playing? (example acoustic parts with ride stuff) Share your knowledge!

And the finish thing is also confusing me:

I tought that it was available on only one finish but it seems to be in brilliant and traditional or What !?

Yep
I own one of these bad boys.

They are very very dry, very good stick definition and virtually no wash at all.

Great for jazz and probably any music where hearing the stick impact is very important.

I believe the Sabian site has audio files of various cymbals, they will probably give you a good idea of how it sounds.

Mine lives on my practice kit and I use and old 21" AA Rock Ride live.

Don't buy the ride before you have heard it in person.
and about the finishes, all the cymbal companies make them look as good as they can for their websites - they never look identical in real life, don't worry about it. :)
Although judging by those pictures, it would appear they do come in both regular and traditional finishes. Either way ---> **Thumbs Up**.

Both of the cymbals shown are Brilliant finish. The apparent difference is the result of lighting and picture quality. Since a Leopard Ride is unlathed, a 'Natural' finish would look like the HH Raw Dry, or the inner bow/bell of a Duo - a mottled dark brown with burgundy and amber highlights. If you want to special-order a Leopard in Natural finish, use the following numbers:

20" - 12030N
21" - 12130N
22" - 12230N

My Leopard is an old one and if I remember they didn't used to do a brilliant finish, just the 'buried in mud for 2 years' finish that I have!!!

Please see my pics.

I ordered one of these rides, and it should be here soon hopefully, I love the sound of the thing, it is compltley sticking, lots of ping, hardly any wash, very sexy sound. It will probably work with any type of music.

Can't go wrong with this thing....

Thanks for your answers. Does anyone know songs where the leopard ride is actually used? I know that hellhammer from mayhem uses it a lot and derek roddy used it on some aurora borealis album but I would like to hear something else. The genre doesn't matter.
