I ordered my new wine red BRX on Jan 21st and they should be here the end of next week. I ordered 22 kick 8,10,12,14 toms and a sweet 20-lug black mist mmx snare. I also ordered a dr-503 rack and a eliminator hi-hat stand. Part of the way i was able to persuade the wife into allowing me to spend our entire tax refund was be telling (falsely) that the new drums with a rack will take up 50% less space and I will sell my current set so there will not be a drum warehouse look to our bonus room. However I have no idea what is a decent asking price for my current drums. SPECS:
they are early to mid 80's exports I would guess 84-86. The kick is 22 and the mounted toms are 10,12,14 with a 16 and 18 floor tom. the snare is a pearl metal snare 6.5x14. The set is in great great condition for its age. The pisser is that I am NOT selling the cymbal stands the snare stand the throne or my double pedal. I am just wanting to sell the kick drum the 3 mounted toms the 2 floor toms the snare and the hi-hat stand. I will use the other equipment with my new BRX set. And of course no Sabians will be parted with. All Toms will be sold with tom arms and the 14 will come with the stand it is shown in the picture with. What is a fair price for this set with the drums, snare, and hi-hat stand and other mention hardware that it will come with. I will sell it on ebay.

My guess would be that you could sell your drums in the ranges of 500 to 700 dollars.

Hey meetthemets - why don't you do a search on EBAY for
Pearl Exports, and see what the older models are going for.
Then you can base your selling price accordingly.

I have done that and there is no way to tell. A black 5 piece used will sell for 200 dollars than a new 5 piece that is red. Some sets will sell real high and others not for much at all. That is why I was wanting the forums opinion.

Sell them on ebay and put the reserve up high and see if anyone will bid....if not, lower it a little and relist it....repeat the process untill someone buys them...

Thats my best advice...

I hate reserves I will just start them at the lowest amount I am willing to sell them for which is about $450.00

You shouldn't have trouble selling it....looks in good condition.

Keep in mind that a new 5-piece Export kit with 2 add on toms to make a 7 piece as you have costs about $950.00....a new 5-piece with hardware is $699.00 most places.......so start back from there. I had a 2000 Export 8-piece kit that went with all hardware for $1,200.00....only two years old. You've got to make this kit more attractive to a beginner than what they can buy new. Keep in mind that the new owner wants to take it home and set it up. If they are not getting all of the hardware, then your sale might be at a disadvantage. I suggest the Want Advertiser book you can get at your local convenience store. I tried ads in papers, music schools etc, but the I sold the kit in 1 week with the Want Advertiser.

Good Luck
