Except that MassMusic's kits come with a voucher for an oil and massage from your preferred full body vendor

they sure do. what is funny to me is i also got a quote for a masterworks in the same sizes. price 3045. i would probably spend the extra 300 for the masterworks seeing i am not big on the finishes offered in reference nor do i want chrome hardware..

strangely, that's true...
hopefully, they'll expand with the reference series enough to get insane shell designs and hardware colours. when they do that, i'll might think a few times about getting one...

cause...300 bucks is like, 3 bc-2000's, or nice hi-hats, or 2 or 3 crashes, or a nice throne and a rack

lots of reasons

Because that $300 won't get you rounded bearing edges or a 20 ply snare....

Good points, but I would spend the extra 300 to be satisfied. I don't like the finishes and the chrome hardware. 300 extra bucks so I won't say, "I wish I would have gotten the masterworks with satin hardware and tangerine finish like I wanted".

I wasn't expecting them to be that inexpensive, is that going to increase anytime soon?

Not until 2006 at the earliest. Since the drums are obviously brand new for this year, and they just released the 2005 price list to the public, I seriously doubt they'd touch the pricing until the 2006 list comes out. Matter of fact the pricing on Masterworks hasn't increased AT ALL since 2002.
